April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

WHAT IT IS

Denim Day is a global awareness campaign observed during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Organizations and communities wear denim as a visible show of solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

WHY IT MATTERS

Denim Day began after a 1998 court ruling overturned a rape conviction because the survivor’s jeans were considered “too tight,” so she must have helped the person who raped her remove them.

Today, wearing denim sends a message:

"Clothing is never consent."

Funds raised support survivor services that help individuals survive, revive, and thrive through safety, counseling, advocacy, and long-term support.
