Turning Fort Bend Teal

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a month dedicated to preventing sexual assault in our community and showing support for survivors.

Fort Bend Women’s Center is committed to providing support for the sexual assault survivors in our community. In 2018, we served more than 300 survivors of sexual assault, accompanying them to hospital and court appointments, as well as providing counseling, emergency shelter and other support services.

Through our Sexual Assault Awareness Month campaign, we want to honor survivors and educate our community about the impact of sexual assault on individuals and families.

We hope that you will join us at one of our many events this April!

‘What were you wearing’ touring exhibit

This art installation recreates the outfits worn by survivors of sexual assault in our community. Each mannequin represents the clothing the victim was wearing during his or her attack, accompanied by the story of their attack in the victim’s own words. This exhibition aims to challenge victim blaming – it’s time to stop asking what someone was wearing when they were attacked.

Now in its second year, the 2019 ‘What were you wearing’ exhibit will feature new outfits and stories.
