“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galations 5:22
This was Lucy, our Chief Operating Officer, our “Rock”… always calm and professional in every situation. Willing to do anything… pull weeds, clean toilets, climb onto the roof and SO much more, to help Fort Bend Women’s Center. She even drove around during the floods of Hurricane Harvey to check on us. She was fearless!!
Above all of that, she was a friend, a mentor, confidant, and mediator. Her quiet nature could calm a room, as if she was saying so much without saying anything at all. Speaking in public was not always her favorite due to her shy nature but her voice was fearless when she sang. Singing at her beloved church, New Covenant Fellowship in Rosenberg, brought her and everyone in the room indescribable joy.
Her community involvement knew no bounds. How many people do you know who are wonderful singers, talented “computer nerds,” skilled problem solvers, terrific parents AND tireless volunteers in the community, all wrapped up in one package? We knew one!
Where Lucy could help, she did! From the Exchange Club of Fort Bend to sitting on the board of the Emergency Services District of Pleak, Texas and of course, dedicating 20 years of 40 hours a week (often more), to Fort Bend Women’s Center and our mission. That is 41,600 hours dedicated to helping families surviving domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.
She was an incredible example of a strong, faithful, loving person. Thank you, Lucy, for your service to your community and your contribution to this world. You will forever be remembered, respected and appreciated. We love you and will miss you dearly.
