Sugar Land, TX – The Gillman Companies rose to the challenge and set a new event record by raising over $90,000 to benefit the Fort Bend Women’s Center (FBWC) at the 19th Annual Ramsay Gillman Charitable Golf Tournament. Held on Monday, November 3rd at Sweetwater Country Club, nearly 200 golfers and 30 staff and volunteers turned out to make this year’s event one of the most successful in the tournament’s history. Since its inception in 1995, the Ramsay Gillman Charitable Golf Tournament has raised over $950,000.
The excitement of the tournament’s success still lingers in the minds of those who worked tirelessly to see the event happen. Patrick York, General Manager of the Gillman Companies said, “The tournament was blessed with great weather, attendance and generous participation! Over $90,000 was raised and 100% of the proceeds went to support the mothers and children who rely on the Ft. Bend Women’s Center as an emergency resource. The Gillman family and Companies could not be prouder to part of this worthy cause! ”
Lane Pearson of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene and Tournament Chair expressed high praise. “It was a great day filled with lots of golfers and a record dollar amount raised for the Fort Bend Women’s Center. I couldn’t be happier with the 19th Annual Ramsay Gillman Charitable Golf Tournament! Thanks to all the incredible sponsors who support us year after year,” said Pearson.
“We feel so fortunate that the Gillman Companies have chosen to support the Women’s Center through this tournament year after year,” commented Vita Goodell, FBWC Executive Director. “We’re able to continue working to end domestic violence and sexual assault in our community but maintaining our life-changing programs and services for those of us who need them most.”
FBWC’s Director of Development Anne Budill echoed the event’s success. “We couldn’t be more grateful for the hard work and dedication from the Gillman Companies. Our sponsors are top notch and we could not have done this without their support,” she says. Kicking off with a 12 noon shotgun start, the event included an awards dinner, donated raffle and live auction. For the third consecutive year, KPRC Meteorologist Anthony Yanez acted as master of ceremonies and gave a heartfelt remembrance to the late Ramsay Gillman, founder of the annual Gillman Charitable Golf Tournament and the Gillman Companies.
