Richmond, TX – Fort Bend Women’s Center is offering a new online store for dedicated thrift shoppers and style seekers searching for individual looks–Thrifting Fashionista ( www.thriftingfashionista.com)

Thrifting Fashionista is a major new initiative by PennyWise, the resale division of Fort Bend Women’s Center.  In addition to offering some of PennyWise’s higher end merchandise to a wider audience, the initiative also includes a Junior Fashionista volunteer program, in-store events and online advice on how to turn thrift store finds into fun, fashionable looks.

Joy Dowell, PennyWise Director for Fort Bend Women’s Center said: “We have seen a growth in online consignment stores selling high quality, gently used fashion and home ware, but not many non-profits have extended their resale program into e-commerce. We believe that our Thrifting Fashionista initiative provides consumers with a unique opportunity to snap up stylish bargains and support our mission at the same time.  In addition, the website and social media outreach aim to make it easier and more fun will provide advice and inspiration for consumers who want to make recycling and repurposing part of their everyday life. Shopping with us has the added appeal of knowing that every dollar spent will help survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault and their families.

Thrifting Fashionista’s product range includes women’s clothing and accessories, home décor and collectibles. The website even offers a dedicated Baby Fashionista section.  Prices vary depending on the original value of the item and its condition. For most items, mailing is free of charge within the continental US.

In addition to selling gently used, high quality merchandise, Thrifting Fashionista also aims to make repurposing thrift store purchases easier and more fun.  PennyWise stores will host ongoing Thrifting Fashionista workshops, offering practical advice on making over furniture, home accessories and pulling together a stylish look from low cost purchases.  Through the Junior Fashionista program, high school and college age volunteers are being trained to offer in-store style advice as well as serving as ambassadors for Fort Bend Women’s Center in their schools and community.
