Did you know that you can shop for bargains, clean out your closet, recycle and make a difference to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault – all at the same time?
Our PennyWise Resale stores play an incredible role in supporting the families we serve. To mark National Thrift Store Day, here’s a quick look at everything they do!
What is PennyWise?
PennyWise is the name of Fort Bend Women’s Center’s chain of resale stores. These stores play a vital role in supporting the families we serve.
Every year, PennyWise stores provide around $100,000 of gently used clothing, household goods and furniture to these families as they start to build new lives, free of violence and abuse. And of course, everything sold in the stores raises funds for our services.
So your bargain buys are providing emergency shelter, counseling, help with education, employment and childcare for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
What can you donate?
PennyWise stores accept donations of gently used, clean clothing for men, women and children; accessories; household goods, furniture and books. We even accept cars, as long as they are roadworthy.
Check out our full list of accepted donations here
To make it easier for you to donate, we will also pick up larger items, free of charge. All you have to do is call 281-344-5777 or email email@example.com
PennyWise stores sell a wide variety of merchandise including housewares, home décor, furniture, clothing for men, women and children, formal wear, shoes, and accessories.
Throughout the week, PennyWise offers special sales too so be sure to check out their Facebook page for all the latest information and new arrivals.
PennyWise even has its own Customer Rewards program!
Want to recycle?
Our PennyWise team finds value in everything that is donated to their stores. If a donated item cannot be sold or used, it is recycled for money, which in turn is used to support our services.
Want to volunteer?
We could not run our PennyWise stores without our wonderful volunteers! There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Volunteers help support the store, sort donations, organize merchandize, greet customers and price goods.
PennyWise also runs a Junior Fashionista board, providing a unique opportunity for the next generation to learn about fashion and retail while helping families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. The Junior Fashionista Board is open to individuals aged 14-21 that love fashion, interested in learning valuable skills in retail and participating in the annual fall fashion show.
You can find out more about how to get involved here.
